From Barcelona to a beach island for one night during honeymoon. Where to go?
 

We are taking a cruise out of Barcelona and planned a 2 night post-cruise stay in Barcelona. However, we are considering one day and night on an island near Barcelona. Any suggestions? We have considered Ibiza, but it doesnt seem right for our honeymoon! We would like great beaches, good food, and great accommodations, and a good nightlife (is that possible?) Thanks in advance.

It would be VERY helpful if you mentioned why Ibiza "doesn't seem right" fro your honeymoon since it has all the "other" things you seem to want.

For me going to one of the Balearic Islands for just one night is pretty much crazyness. Especially Ibiza is pretty far away. It's about 400 km from Barcelona. The fastest boat takes about 4,5 hours one way, and flying also takes its time. If you're not spending any time in Barcelona before your cruise, one day definitely is not enough to explore this magnificant city. If you prefer to have a beach hotel, I'd suggest staying in a nearby beach town, e.g. Sitges.

I agree with stardust - the islands are too far. There's more than plenty to do in Barcelona for 2 nights, but if you've really got to have a beach, Sitges is a good suggestion.

BTW, Barcelona was the best stop on our honeymoon in 1997.
