Frodsham or Chester

An acquaintance has suggested that rather than staying in Chester we stay in Frodsham for 2 nights while we explore the area. Is this practical and if so can anyone recommend accomodation?

Sorry, I can't comment on Frodsham. However, earlier this spring we stayed at the Chesire Cat in Christleton (located just outside of Chester). Price was 55 GBP for a large room with bath. It turned out to be one of the nicest rooms we had for the price. The restaurant downstairs served decent food at reasonable prices all day long. A young man named Jay, who worked there was most helpful to us and would not accept a gratuity for his help. The website is at
www.chesirecat.co.uk No, I don't work for them, it was just a pleasant place.

Mark- we spent 1 nite in Chester this past May--we stayed within the walled city in a 4 star hotel called the Chester Grosvner-IT WAS FABULOUS--if you don't stay there, at least do tea there...Rooms were gorgeoous-4 poster canopy, jacuzzi in bath-we messed up by not staying more than 1 nite--we definitely want to go back to Chester-tones of things to do- huge zoo(yes,it WAS open), a river ride around the city, tons of antiquing in and around city....can't say enough good things about it except definitely GO.

The last time I was in Frodsham, which is many years ago, it was just a pleasant village, albeit with some reasonably attractive views from the escarpment that it sits on.
My only comments here are that Chester has a lot of pleasant strolls, apres serious sightseeing, a lot more interesting pubs etc., and an attractive river running through it.
However if you do opt for Frodsham a car would be essential.

I'd agree, Frodsham is a large village/small town, quite pleasant but very little to do in the evening. I'd opt for Chester myself, there id accommodation to suit all pockets.

Have a look at my site - The UK Tourist - http://www.theuktourist.com - a guide to accommodations.

I live in Cheshire. You can get from one end of the County to the other in half hour using M56. So your not far away from Chester wherever your accommodation is.
