Friuli area wineries

We are planning to visit the Friuli area north of Venice. My favorite white wine is the Pighin Pinot Grigio. Has anyone been to this area before? I am having difficulty locating where the winery is, and estimating how far the driving distance is to the area. Once in Venice, hopefully my hotel will be able ot help me.

Thanks,
Alison

Sorry I can't help you with the Pighin wine, but I am glad to see someone traveling to one of my favorite areas in Italy! We stayed just outside of Cormons for 3 days a couple of years ago (at a winery, actually) and loved it. Have a great trip!!

Thank you for the suggestion about staying outside Cormons. How far is it from Venice? We are trying to see if we can bus or train to that area and then get a car from Lake Bled, or if we have to bus to Venice and then rent the car. Can you please tell me where you stayed??
Thanks!

>>>My favorite white wine is the Pighin Pinot Grigio.<<<

They make two different Pinot Grigio's at two different vineyards. It would depend which one you like.

You would have to contact them to see if they are set up for visitors. Many vineyards in Italy require an appointment and others are working vineyards and don't cater to tourists.

alisonmary, I was flipping through Afar Magazine's most recent issue the other day, and this post came to mind because they had a short piece on this exact subject! They do not post all content from the magazine online, so you'll have to go purchase it or find it in a library. Hope it helps!

Alison, we stayed at Relais Russiz Superiore in the countryside outside of Cormons(Via Russiz, 7, Capriva del Friuli). Highly recommended!!
