Friday Random Thought
Happy Friday everyone!
Random thought: I just saw this in a thread "safe/clean/inexpensive" with regard to lodging. That struck me as funny - have you ever heard of anyone looking for a dangerous, dirty, and rediculously expensive hotel? :D Expensive or inexpensive - yes, but I don't think anyone is looking for the other descriptors. LOL. Anyway, just thought I'd share my random thought. I had better get back to work, it's not the weekend yet! |
I book reservations for a living, and quite often, someone will tell me that want a clean hotel. If I detect a sense of humor, I ask them, 'You mean I can't book you in one of the dirty hotels'? <G>
|
You could book them as a package with overpriced, cramped air transport in noisy, crowded planes.
|
Be sure to ask for the Meal Plan, undercooked/smells funny/tastes funny/very expensive.
|
This reminds me of a diner-type place I often eat at. Some tourists walked in a few days ago and asked "what do you reccomend?" The grumpy guy that runs the place is retorted without missing a beat "I suggest you get the fish. It's going bad and I really need to start moving it." The regulars all busted out laughing. the tourists stayed (but didn't order fish...).

bardo, funny!
|
Wouldn't that be like asking the taxi driver "is it too far to walk?"
|
Well there are many people who always say to the waiter, "do you have any nice wines by the glass?" Have you ever heard of a waiter saying "sorry, all are wines are bad"?
And I'm with you especially on the "clean" hotel room. I have yet to hear any hotel owner ask, "would you like one of our clean rooms, or a dirty one?" And when a person reports that the rooms were clean, I can only think if that's the best thing you can say about it, I don't want to stay there. |
I think when people say something like "safe/clean/inexpensive" they are just letting us know what is most important to them--that they aren't interested in paying more for a view, ambiance, great hotel restaurant, etc.
Actually, I have known people who are willing to stay in dangerous/dirty places as long as it's really inexpensive. |
Well, it's not like there aren't dirty rooms out there...doesn't hurt to get assurances... (have you <i>read</i> some of the reviews on Tripadvisor?)
