FRESH CHEESE FROM ITALY

We are planning our first trip to Italy next month. Does anyone know if we can bring home a block of fresh parmesian cheese? Possibly they have it packaged to go.

Yes. It's soft cheese that you can't bring back. Hard cheese is OK. ((b))

Hi Cubbie,

You don't want fresh parmesian cheese. You want Parmigiano Reggiano, which is aged for 1-2 years.

Your cheese monger will vacuum pack it for you.

We also saw some vacuum-packed at the duty free shops at FCO in Rome. That's if you don't actually have a cheese monger.

Doesn't everyone have a cheese monger? ;)
