Frescos in Florence???
 

I will be in Florence for 4 days in Sept.<BR>this will be my 4th visit there,and I would like to devote at least one full day some of the more interesting frescos, in Florence, so far I have:<BR> Capella Brancacci-in S.M. della Carmine, and the Frisa cells painted by Fra Lippi(can anyone tell me how to find this place,is it a churc??).<BR>Any other suggestions would be helpful<BR>Much thanks,<BR>Fluffy

San Marco, all the Fra Angelico fresco work in the cells: Giotto in Santa Croce are two spots to see.

If it is great frescos you want go to Padova, a 30 minute train ride from Venice. The best frescos done by Giotto are in the Scrvegni Chapel ther. The chapel was closed for a year and a half for restoration and just reopened at the end of March. Reservations should be made in advance as only a limited number are allowed in at a time to help preserve them. website is www.cappelladegliscrovegni.it

fluffy - definitely don't miss the frescoes in the Brancacci chapel. It's a bit out of the way but very worth while.<BR><BR>The San Marco church/cloister is near the Duomo and Accademia and should be marked on any map of Florence.<BR><BR>adrienne<BR>

My Florence fresco favorites:<BR>Cappella Brancacci in Santa Maria del Carmine<BR>Fra Beato Angelico in monks cells, in San Marco<BR>Pontormo's Depostion and Annuciation in first chapel in Santa Felicita<BR>Gozzoli's Journey of the Magi in a chapel in Palazzo Medici-Riccardi<BR>There are so many more...it's hard to choose.

Locations!<BR>Santa Maria Del Carmine is in the Oltrarno (area across river)<BR>San Marco is near the Accademia<BR>Santa Felicita is just over the Ponte Vecchio in the Oltrarno<BR>Palazzo Medici-Riccardi is across from San Lorenzo near the Central Market
