San Marco, all the Fra Angelico fresco work in the cells: Giotto in Santa Croce are two spots to see.

If it is great frescos you want go to Padova, a 30 minute train ride from Venice. The best frescos done by Giotto are in the Scrvegni Chapel ther. The chapel was closed for a year and a half for restoration and just reopened at the end of March. Reservations should be made in advance as only a limited number are allowed in at a time to help preserve them. website is www.cappelladegliscrovegni.it

fluffy - definitely don't miss the frescoes in the Brancacci chapel. It's a bit out of the way but very worth while.

The San Marco church/cloister is near the Duomo and Accademia and should be marked on any map of Florence.

adrienne
