French Wine Labels

While in Paris I would like to save the labels of fabulous wines I try.

Any ideas for best way to remove the labels?

Also, when in a restaurant would they think I was gauche to ask them to remove the label for me or should I just do this for the bottles I purchase from a store?

I have saved wine and beer labels for years - just put them in your hotel sink and the label after soaking will peel off neatly.

I'd ask the resto for the empty bottle, which, unless they are the few that are accused of refilling prestigious vintages with less expensive wine - the waiter has a tool for this that i can't think of the name of to reinsert the cork so it pops when he then opens it at your table. But otherwise why wouldn't they give you the bottle, assuming you drank it all. And i think restaurants will let you take a half-ful bottle out if you paid for the bottle.

Anyway a warm memory of where you were when you bought the wine and drank it!

Hi, just tell them you want them for your collection.
It can be very difficult to remove it from the bottle.
I destroyed a few great labels by tearing them. I humidify the paper with warm water and pull very carefull.
And then I sticked them on a old desk I renovated, see result here:

As you want to go everywhere, I'm afraid you'll to go to Burgundy and get them yourself. That will give you a good reason to travel again ;;)

Excellent! I r-e-a-l-ly like the idea of drinking half the bottle at dinner and finishing it off down the street somewhere! Oh my goodness, I can hardly wait! I will be traveling alone so would be quite tipsy and a long time at the table finishing an entire bottle! hee hee
