Pretty tough one !
It's a matter of furniture or lamps???

ira Nov 8th, 2004 08:33 AM

Gracious, cigal.

You expected an answer within 9 min? :)

ciré-patine à l'ancienne - a colored wax coating.

It could be used to make a new piece look old or to allow a piece to develop a lustrous patina over time.

thanks Ira, Yes impatient because I must give the answer now of my choice.
joelle, it's for a bust of Mistral. Someone is sending me a gift bust of him to celebrate the centennial of his Nobel Prize.

Hi cigal,

I'll take a moderately educated guess.

Bronze noir is a black patination - very common for bronze

vieux bronze flamme will be a reddish/brown - also fairly common

Dear Mimi,

This is what came out from Freetranslation .com

"waxed skates to the old one, black, old bronze bronze flammé"

I remember visiting Mistral's home in Maillanne, seeing a photo of Teddy R. who awarded Fredric his Nobel prize.

Warmest regards.

Anthony

Anthony, I saw that letter too. Send me your address, I'll send you the Mistral card that was made from the photo I took of his statue.
