French Train workers set to strike November 21

Is the duration of something like this easy to predict? Thought people might like to know so they can make alterantive arrangements.

Found some French papers online that have Englis links if anyone is interested.

topping...

Duration? I wouldn't want to predict...

Percentage of trains NOT affected? Typically about 90%...

The strikes are real. The crisis creation that travelers suppose might occur? Close to non-existent, as far as I can tell (from admittedly, limited experience - - about ten trips to France in the past 15 years, totalling about 50 days, and very little train travel on most of them).

Best wishes,

Rex

Sarah - thanks for the advance notice of this as we had intended to work out a train trip around that time.

From what I have seen, "French train workers" ususally means all forms of trains including the metro. We were in the middle of the last strike in October and we were told, and found, that the unions are reasonable about these strikes by only shutting down about 1/3rd of the rails at any point in time.

Dang, a strike would really inconvience the rioters.

Hi Was knocked off the sight for most of the day for some reason.

I gotta add that transit workers that were operating the train from CDG to Central Paris asked for extra protection this week as they were targeted by rioters. Guess CDG is closer to those Paris suburbs we are hearing about facing rioting.

winesipper glad it helped. Yeah I am traveling with a young friend who is staying on a short bit after I leave. This will help her book alternative bus plans
