However - it the weather is nasty, I would not want to be on the Cinque Terre. There is not much to do there except hike from vilage to village and enjoy life at a cafe or hanging out in a village. We were in Tuscany during March/April of '04 and it snowed. Cold too - and same rainy days. Perhaps if you fly to Pisa, check the weather out and if it is not good - head to Florence and enjoy all the art & other stuff Forence has to offer.

I was in the 5 Terre one January recently and the weather was surprisingly nice - about 60 and sunny but as Stu and others say this is often not the case but i do think by April the weather could be more dependably decent - but yeh if rain sets in i'd say the area wold be too boring for me - though you could do day trips to Pisa, etc.
