There are 21 restaurants in the 1st that offer kiddie menus; the poster needs to be more specific etc.

I saw on another post that macca said the children were between 7-15 so we're really not talking about unruly todders here. Wonder why macca doesn't give us some feedback, though; it would help us to know if we're giving suggestions that sound good to him/her.

Chez Denise certainly provides "a REAL AUTHENTIC French meal experience."

Léon de Bruxelles is one of the absolutely most popular restaurants to which French families take their children. When I take my mother there for lunch on Saturday sometimes (to a Léon in the suburbs where the handicapped parking spot is right in front of the door), I would say that about 80% of the tables are occupied by families with children of all ages.

I agree with Grandmere (usually do)that LTB would be terrific. I think most kids would be in awe (I am). Also think that lunch or dinner (probably better, lunch, with the views) at Jules Verne as suggested by Suz, would be memorable and while not something I would call "real Authentic", it certainly can only be done in Paris. The Chez Francis suggestion is interesting and depending upon the interior might get my vote with its view OF rather than FROM the Eiffel tower. We used to take our kids at that age to a boat moored in the Seine which became the restaurant Shogun. They could watch the teppanyaki chef in front of a view of the tower. It was a real favorite--but certainly not authentic French. You might consider also one of the over the top decor brasseries like Pied de Cochon (with pigs feet on the menu to interest and gross them out) or Grand Cafe on Blvd des Capucins near the Opera. There are others in that vein. And then for a cute tiny cafe that looks right out of a movie (which it is--featured in Accidental Tourist) consider Chez Julien (not to be confused with Julien) just across from the Ile de la Cite. Lace curtains in the windows, outside tables on a cobblestoned hill, even a dog in the kitchen.

Don't go to Hippoptomus or the Gauls place or other touristy places in the 5th. Enjoy.

I walked past Fouquet's on the Champs Elysées just a few minutes ago and saw a family with two small children having lunch there. At least I think they were children, because they were moving more like robots, perhaps because of the starchy retro clothes in which they were dressed. It definitely looked like a life defining event to me.

Wherever you decide to go, encourage them to try snails in garlic butter - my sons adored them.
