Kavey, I just today saw your question; I was in Aruba when you posted it. I did not take gifts; it never crossed my mind. I suppose that's b/c it was arranged thru the school, and I was a "boarder". Perhaps I should have. . .

In the event we only stayed in Bordeaux one night and attended the school for one day.
We did both think the school was good though and my lesson (in the advanced class) was superb. As a complete beginner Pete found it harder to assess his on the basis of just one morning.
We will be returning sometime in the next 6-8 months to take our fortnight of classes.
