French Region Recommendation
Hi All.
I just registered after reading this message board for a long time. There is so much helpful stuff here + I enjoy the trip reports. My family went to Paris last spring & had a blast. For spring break 2006 I want to see France again but this time a different region. My only requirement is one with a soccer team nearby as we never vacation w/out attending a match. If there were points of interest for 12 year olds that would be great. Thanks for any suggestions. |

I don't know playing schedules for soccer, so you'll have to find out all those details elsewhere. I do know most major cities in France have a soccer team, though, so you could do that in any region, I think.
There are good teams in Auxerre, Lyon, Marseille, St Etienne, Bordeaux, Nice, LeMans, Troyes, Lens, Nancy, Rennes, Lille, and of course, Paris. There's also one in Monaco. I'm not a big sports buff, that's just the info I found quickly, and I knew about already. If you want to check schedules or other issues, you might examine the French Football Federation website www.fff.fr or perhaps the International one www.fifa.com |
Thanks Christina. We went to an Auxerre match as PSG was out of town when we were in Paris--lots of fun. I heard Lyon & Marseille are great soccer cities.

Lyon is the "fashion" one right now because the team has began the season really well in the Champions League (they defeated Real Madrid last week).
