i also still love the song, it's amazing. maybe i'll request it at zumba class and see what happens.

i thought foutre was simply the french version of our "f-word" in it's many forms and uses and meanings.

Foutre is an archaic word concerning the sex act. The noun is a not-nice word for sperm.

However, 'foutu' is used in polite speech even though 'fichu' is preferred. People say "C'est foutu" all the time for "it's hopeless" and as I said earlier, "Je suis foutu" is the standard way to say "I'm done for" or "there's no hope" or whatever. Even though the origin is with the F word, it has very much softened in usage over the years.

The most common conjugation is "Je m'en fous" (once again, politely, one should say "je m'en fiche") -- but "je m'en fous" merely means "I don't care" and you will hear it all the time.
