Any recommendations for an inexpensive basic French language tutorial on CD? We just want to know some simple phrases.

Search for the word &quot;Pimsleur&quot; here on this forum (or &quot;Pimsleur and French&quot;) and you will find many recommendations on this &quot;Cadillac&quot; product and many others. May well be overkill for what you are seeking. and definitely not cheap.<BR><BR>My first recommendation would be for whatever your local public library has to lend. I wouldn't buy ANYthing.<BR><BR>Whatever you buy, do take not to the suggestion made here often - - to say it OUT LOUD. You won't get much out of any product if you mumble, or say it &quot;in your head&quot;. It's as simple as going to your local library and checking out the Berlitz or Pimsleur language cassettes with accompanying booklets. Listen to them in the car or at home and you will definitely pick up some conversational phrases to help you get by in France.

Pimsleur has an inexpensive ($14.00) 3 tape set that is just fine. Not in depth, but all you need for a 2-3 week trip. I also like the French in 10 minutes a day workbook. It has little stickers you can put on things around your home to help memorize words.
