french chateaux

My husband and I are planning to visit the Loire Valley in France in September and want to spend a few nights in an authentic chateau. We both speak some French and are looking for someplace comfortable with lots of atmosphere. Don't need a pool or golf course or cable TV. Could spend $100-$150 per night. We expect to have a car so the location is not critical. THanks for any suggestions!

Hi, Mary. You should be able to find something you like on one of these sites. Happy hunting! <BR> <BR>http://www.bienvenue-au-chateau.com/ <BR> <BR>http://www.chateauxcountry.com/index_en.html <BR>

We stayed at the Manoir de Clenord. It is not fancy, but we were treated very well. The price will fit your budget. <BR>Web site: http://www.clenord.com/home.htm

Try the Relais et Chateaux site too. It's relaischateaux.com. The site is easy to use.

30 yrs ago, our family stayed at the Chateau du Gue Pean, near Montrichard. It is an authentic castle. We found it thru the Fodor's Europe book. It might be more than you want to spend and I don't know if they still take guests
