Thank you all for your replies. I feel comfortable now that I will be able to sample many French pastries during my visit without "breaking the bank". Can't wait until we get there :-)

I used to get petites quiches while living in France that one could eat on the run. Help me remember, can you get those as well as a croque monsieur at a boulangerie, or was it a patisserie, or a charcuterie...
