I posted this list a few week past and you noted: The artical is a little lite on destinations for free tapas, leaving out some of our favorite places in Madrid, Pamplona, San Sebastian and Bilbao, which have always offered free pintxos/tapas. We were just out and about here in Granada and overwhelmed with the (great) free tapas, but the cost of a decent glass of wine, like a Rey Zagal from Granada, is in the 3€+ range, and well worth it. Just keep away from the tourist bars on Calle Navas. |
... y Nerja ;-)

Just reread it on El Pais. Had to refresh my mind. We where in Granada a few weeks ago. Try Taberna La Tana at Placeta del Agua, 3, for good tapas and great wines. They open at 20:30 and is the best wine bar in Granada.
You should also check out Taberna El Mentidero, Calle Piedra Santa, 15, near the Hotel Hesperia Granada. Great haute cuisine tapas! http://www.pinterest.com/sanfermines...as-in-granada/ |
We will stopping in San Sebastian/Domostia just to have tapas.

We usually stay in Salamanca district in Madrid, but in April
I'll be staying in an apt a bit south of museum R. Sofia. ....Calle Amparo. Any suggestions for tapas and vino in that area ? |
There are several decent restaurants within easy walking distance, up near the Mercado de Antón Martín, but for the best tapas and small plates, you'll have to head over to the Retiro (http://tinyurl.com/h6genqf) or to restaurant row on Jorge Juan. Álbora is always a good stop.

Thanks,
we had dinner at Albora ( downstairs ) in Oct. ... Nice spot, good service. I'll take a look at the area around the Mercado . |
Álbora picked up their first Michelin star last year and are opening up a new restaurant (on the casual dining side I believe) shortly.
We decided on trying another new restaurant last Wednesday for lunch. Babelia Café, in restaurante row at Callejón de Puigcerdá, 6, turned out to be surprisingly good, and well priced (http://babeliarestaurante.com/). |
There are so many good restaurants and bars north and east of Retiro.
"Estay "on Hermosilla was closed for renovation in Oct....must be open by now. |
