Free Museums for teachers?

The NYTimes had a short blurb in the Sunday travel section about the government museums (Louvre, D'Orsay for example) in Paris now being free for teachers. My DH said it was probably for French teachers, not those from other countries. I disagreed and said he was wrong (hopefully)! Anyone know for sure?
Thanks!

They've always been free for teachers as far as I know - any teachers, from anywhere.

Look up the sources. The official website of the Louvre for example has an entire page for teachers, with a link that says - DUH - teachers on the left of the home page. You have to be accompanying a school group and you have to send in for a photo document in advance etc. etc. - it's all there, don't guess or hope, just go look.

I have gotten discounted or free admissions when I mention I'm a teacher. I bring along school ID. I used to buy the International Teacher card (through same group as the ISIC for students). I even got a great airfare booking through STA, the student travel agency using the card years back. However, I don't know if it still exists. I would bring any ID that states you're an educator. You can always ask if they offer a free or reduced admission.

I never thought they were free for teachers other than French teachers (I mean those living in France). The website has always had a lot of criteria, and I don't think even any French teacher gets it, they are supposed to be accompanying a group or a teacher of fine arts or something. In other words, a business teacher doesn't get it. At least, that's what the Louvre's website has always said.

But others have said they go it, such as andeeue. What difference does it make, you'll find out when you get there. Surely you aren't going to decide whether to go or not based on that.
