In the next few days topics include
Marketing Truth and Justice: a social and economic history of the Toronto tabloid press, 1900 - 1940.
Religious rhetoric as instrument of intolerance in Muscovy.
The computer science of everyday things: can IT work better ?
Field notes from human rights monitors overseas.
The historic roots of military dictatorship in the Middle East.
Music Listening as Social Practice.
Popper and Alternative Medicine.

The list until Christmas, with notes for spring as well, is on
http://www.indiana.edu/~victoria/lectures.html. Or please tell me when you'll be here, and I'll send you the current list.

Ben Haines

Thanks for posting that, Ben. Funny you should do that today: I had JUST been reading a thread about hotels in London in which you supplied a comment mentioning that you are often in Bloomsbury to attend lectures, and I was intrigued. Now we all know how we can do the same.

Thanks for yet another valuable contribution to this board.

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the post. I'm going to look it up.
Can you give me advise on New Years Eve? We were in Paris at the Eifel Tower this year and it was very family oriented and not rowdy at all. As we have our 11 year old with us we don't want too wild. Would you suggest the area around Westminster? Also, are there fireworks over the Thames?
I have read about the New Years Day parade but cannot find info on how to purchase bleacher seats. Would you have any idea?
Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Cheers
Pat

Thanks so much Ben:) You are providing a very useful resource indeed!
Mr.Haines:Thank you again for the list.Hopefully, I will be able to attend some this December.
|
I'm glad the list may prove useful.

Pat: I'm afraid that in the West End New Year's Eve is a noisy affair, with many people drunk. Nor can I help on fireworks or the parade: I stay sober at home.

I have on disc a note on London for children: shall I e-mail you a copy ?

Ben Haines
