Yup, Its a No-Rain shocker here today :O

Wouldn't you just know -- after nbujic convinced everyone to stay away since the whole country is under water . . . .

It was a lovely day today...but no way does it feel like Kuly/August weather. There's a cool "underbreeze", it feels like a day in late September. And chilly enough late at night to see your breath. Which is fine with us, we'll take that over a heat wave any day.

But it's also been way too seedy. We had to take the cocker to the vet on Saturday to get a seed pulled from deep in her ear (ouch). The vet said she's had to do that a lot lately, much more than usual. And more fleas. Our cocker hasn't been bothered by fleas, but the other pet owners in the waiting room said this has been one of the worst summers they can remember for fleas. (This is only our third summer here, so we don't have much of a basis for comparison.)

will i need AC in London next week?

I concur with that observation! Nothing like Summer, more like Spring. I hope we have a nice 'Indian Summer' in September

I said nothing of the sort. We had lovely weather in London and Bath.
Talk to your BBC or ,as we called it the "flood channel" if you feel they are spreading miss information. !
If people on holidays wish to visit places in flooded areas ( sorry, the flooded ares 3 days ago) good luck to them! Just make sure you bring some drinking water and don't flush the toilet!

I wonder what kind of winter we'll have? I have in the freezer two snowballs made from the one measurable snowfall we had over winter--I had planned to pull them out during a particularly hot summer day and let the cocker play with them. But so far, no need.

Well don't hog it all - send some over the North Sea to me please! After 155mm rain and a below average temperatures in July I could do with some sun and warmth too. They keep promising it us - but it never sems to appear.

So two consecutive days of sunshine in July is front page news in Britain?

I knew there was a reason I always visited in early spring, or fall.

well Nbujic your point may have been that the &quot;worst flood since 1766 which killed 9 people, and caused an estatmated flood damage of 3 billion pounds&quot; was pretty profound.

but this is not enough to stop the Brits (stiff upper lip and all) especially now that the sun is out!

I was just trying to inform tourists visiting London that some parts of the country have been in bad shape and they should think twice about spending their holiday time and money in those areas.
I don't understand why some Brits get their pantyhose in a knot about the facts ( and pictures) one can find on the Net anyway!

it really isn't a big deal - we were in Vanvcouver recently and their upstate area suffered far worse flooding than the British countryside - I didn't see the tourist world advising against travel to those areas - the point is that there isn't an aweful lot happening in the world or the UK at the moment - hence the floods are big news.

it must have been a VERY slow 14 days while we were in London!

Nbujic - your update and personal warnings about the flooding in the tourist areas are important to travelers.
It's just that the Brits seem to carry on no matter what.

actually the warnings are very misguided. The areas nbujic is telling folks to avoid are the very areas that are BEGGING visitors to come and stay. They don't want an economic disaster to follow on from the flooding.

Just like here in Northern California where there was a fairly well publicized forest fire a few weeks ago. The media would have one think Lake Tahoe had burned up. Whereas it was really a very small area. The tourist-focused businesses are dying because so many visitors have cancelled based on the hysterical reports.
