Frankfurt to Belle-Ile-en-Mere
Hi all!
My friend and her two small kids are going to France in July to visit a friend with a house on Belle Ile. I am helping her do this on a budget, and did find them three tickets from Portland (OR) to Frankfurt for $1300 total. This was an incredible stroke of luck, and in no small part due to tips I read about here in the forum, so thank you all very, very much! Now she needs a cheap and efficient way to get from Frankfurt to Belle Ile that would be feasible with the kids. (Before she had them she would just hitchike.) Her flight is direct, so a few connections would not be the end of the world. Any suggestions? Should she try to fly to CDG and then take a train, then the ferry? Or is there anything simpler? She is from Lyons but has never been to Belle Isl before. She has also never been to Frankfurt. Thanks! Corina |
It looks like RyanAir flies out of Frankfurt to Nantes which would be closer than CDG.

Ryanair doesn't fly out of Frankfurt but out of Hahn, which is over 1 1/2 hours by coach from Frankfurt airport.

Thanks, guys--good to know not to take Ryanair. Anyone else familiar with the route to Bell Ile?

It's not really a reason not to take Ryanair - you just have to be aware of the fact. Plus - if you fly with Ryanair pack light. VERY light. Otherwise, take a train from Frankfurt to Paris (you can save some time using the overnight one) or a flight - you can surely even get a flight to Nantes with a connection in CDG... |
Thanks very much, altamiro. I don't think Ryanair will work because of the very limited baggage, but taking an overnight train or flying to Nantes (or Lorient?) and then taking a train (and then ferry! Long couple of days...) looks like it will indeed work the best.
