Frankfurt Airport Train to Strasbourg

We will be flying from the US into Frankfurt on Lufthansa. We arrive at 6:20 am. We plan on taking the train to Strasbourg and spending our first night there.

I am a little confused as to how to take the train from the airport. I know there are two stations at the airport. Also, should we purchase our tickets before we travel? Is there good signage to help locate the correct station.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Taking a train from Frankfurt is easy, you shouldn't have any problems. Lucky you, I love Germany!

Here's the website www.bahn.de.

There are signs all along the way to the train stations. You will probably be going to the long distance station. They are both across the street from the airport. You will have no trouble at all finding them. It's only a short walk across to the stations then a long hallway to the trains.

Look up suitable train connections on http://www.bahn.de (change language to English).
From: Frankfurt Airport
To: Strasbourg

The search result will tell you the train departs from either Frankfurt Flughafen REGIONALBAHNHOF (if it sends you on a S-Bahn to Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof/Central station) or, nore likely, Frankfurt Flughafen FERNBAHNHOF (that's where the long-distance trains depart).
You'll find these two names and a symbol showing a train on the signs everywhere in the airport. Signage is quite idiot-proof and *almost* academic-proof...
In case of emergency, there are information desks everywhere that will help you.

If you have the train connections and have further questions, we're here;-)

Trains from Frankfurt airport to Strasbourg leave from the Fernbahnhof every hour (0754, 0854, 0954, etc). For example. the 0754 leaves from Fernbahnhof Platform 5, and arrives at Karlsruhe at 0859. There you change to the Strasbourg train which leaves at 0931,and arrives at Strasbourg at 1013, a trip duration of 2h19m. The cost oneway is about €50. Earlier or later trains might take a different route, but all take about the same time, cost about the same, and involve at least one change of train.

Further: Sometimes there are special internet fares for this trip, but they sell out fast, so you'll need to check the DBahn site. Special fares apply to specific trains, so be sure that you are able to catch the one for which you buy a 'special' fare. Otherwise, buy your tickets when you arrive: Look for, or ask directions to, a DB Reisecentrum (aka railway ticket office!) and you will find that most of the operators there speak English, and are most helpful.
