Frankfurt airport to Arabella Sheraton Offenbach
 

I'm (solo female) arriving at Frankfurt Airport at 0630 (in August) and need to get myself to the Arabella Sheraton AM Busing Palais Frankfurt Offenbach. I have checked the hotel site and they don't appear to offer a shuttle service.
What is the best mode of transport?
Taxi, pre-booked limo (haven't found one yet) or train?

I have been seaching on the internet for a limo service but I am having great difficulty finding any limo service in Frankfurt, which I find unbelievable. Don't know what I am doing wrong with my search terms.

Just get a taxi when you get out of the airport. It shouldn't take more than 15min at most. No need to bother looking up a limo service.

What's the difference between taxi and limo service? Sorry for asking stupid questions, but can anyone enlighten me?

I prefer to pre-book and pay for a limo transfer, when arriving in a foreign city (foreign for me)
Taxi fare prices can be a bit of "hit & miss", depending on the honesty of the taxi driver and the 'awareness' of the foreign customer.

No issue whatsoever with Frankfurt taxi drivers. They use the meter, and they'll know how to get you where you're going. I generally carry a print-out of the hotel name and address, just in case, but probably not necessary in this instance.

Prices are reasonable, what you'd expect for western big city.

And if you're even the slightest bit concerned about cost, you can take the train directly from the airport. I've done this on several occasions and it is very, very easy (unless you happen to travel with a of luggage).

As per the hotel website:

"From Frankfurt Airport: Take the S2, S8 or S9 (underground station at Terminal 1, Track 1) to "Hanau" or "Offenbach-Ost", Exit at "Offenbach-Marktplatz". When exiting the train, turn left and exit the underground station at "Herrnstrasse/Büsing Palais". (Estimated travel time: 25 minutes)."

Note that you buy your ticket from machines on the train (or tram, if you later end up taking any) platform. Some hotels in Frankfurt offer a discounted transit pass that includes access to the airport, so ask about it at the concierge desk (though of course that won't help you on the first train trip).

I've never heard of anything else than taxis in Germany. Sorry, I still don't get the difference.

Pre-booking? Taxis can of course be pre-booked with the taxi company. That requires in this case, however, that you know the exact time when you'll need the car, otherwise they'll make you pay for the time they waited.

In a country with an efficient public transport system like ours, even taking a taxi is considered horribly expensive and is done only if inevitable - like: late at night, lots of luggage, or if someone has difficulties walking. I don't see a market here for anything even more expensive.

Take a taxi. Or take the S-Bahn, like any local would do.

Ok I googled a bit. There are some companies that offer airport pick-up with taxis or minibuses if that's what you mean - but the term "limo service" is definitely unknown in Germany.

I guess there are limo services available at every major German airport, though they usually cater more to a business clientele, or to people who have no easy access to public transportion and don't want to take the private car.

If you have to travel longer distances, e.g. 50 kilometers or more, limo services CAN be less expensive than regular taxis.

It works the same way here as everywhere: you pre-book or reserve, and the driver will pick you up in the arrivals hall.

But for going from FRA to Offenbach any taxi will offer same service for less money, while the train/S-Bahn will probably be the most sensible option.

Typically I find a hotel with a LIMO service and within 6 or 7 KM from the Airport, but when I haven't I used a taxi without any problem. They are all right outside of baggage claim.

I think the difference is that we only say "limo service" when we are actually hiring a limousine, not just a car(any car) with driver to wait for us at the airport :)
