What is the correct listing of the Frankfurt airport to choose on the Bahn site when I'm trying to ride a train from the Frankfurt airport? There are several choices.

Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf is for long distance routes.

The local station is actually listed as: Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Regionalbf

In case you don't know, the stations are located in the same place, with the long-distance station upstairs and the local station downstairs.

Actually, local routes is Frankfurt(M) Regionalbf.

Also, if you use Fernbf, you can use "standard search" under Means of transport:, but if you put in Regionalbf you really should change Means of transport to "only local transport".

The Regionalbf services the S-Bahns that run from Frankfurt(M) Hbf to Mainz and Wiesbaden as well as regional trains and an occasional Intercity train. It is under the building across the street from Terminal 1 at FRA, and you get to it by going down steps inside the terminal and crossing under the street.

The Fernbf services the faster express trains (InterCity Express) and is farther out. You get to it by going up to the 2nd floor mezzanine in the main hall of Terminal 1 and going over a pedestrian bridge to the 2nd floor of the same building, then out through a corridor in the building.

Which site should I use if I am going from Frankfurt to Hamburg? Then, when I return, I am going from Berlin to Frankfurt.

Ok, let me clarify my question. In order to go the longer distance, from Frankfurt to Hamburg, I use the Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf as my choice when I am purchasing my tickets on the bahn site, right?

Do a search using Frankfurt Flughafen (or just FRA). Then, pick whichever routing you would like. If it goes direct from the airport (on an ICE train), you'd leave from the Fernbahnhof. If it goes first to the Frankfurt main station (Hauptbahnhof/Hbf), you'd use the Regionalbahnhof. (A few routings have you take a ICE from the airport to the Hauptbahnhof instead of local trains; these leave from the Fernbahnhof as well, but you could also take the S-Bahn to Hbf.) In most cases, it doesn't matter which station you choose in terms of the ticket because they're the same place. (I can't think of a case, but I say "most" as I suppose there might be some.)

You should purchase a ticket for the most convenient connection, i.e. the direct ICE trains from Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbf to Hamburg, leaving FRA at :42 on even hours. I would be reluctant to get tickets which are only good for the specific train you booked (saver rates), since you usually don't know if you will arrive (by plane) exactly on time.

If even if missed that connection due to late arrival or else, you could take ANY train (long distance, regional, or suburban "S-Bahn&quot from FRA airport stations to Frankfurt main station to catch one of the other ICE trains leaving for Hamburg from Frankfurt main station.
