Frankfurt airport - baggage claim

Flying into Frankfurt from Chicago on Lufthansa in June. Have never flown before and am a little nervous about when I get to Frankfurt. Where do I find my baggage? I will have someone to pick me up - where do I suggest they meet me? Thanks for any help.

Frankfurt is a huge airport but everything is well-marked. You will find your baggage with no problem, just as you would in an American airport. If you need to ask directions, you will find that everyone speaks English as Frankfurt is a major international business center. European airports and train stations usually have an area marked "Meeting Point" (a great idea that the US has not yet adopted). So you could meet your friend there, or let that person (who probably knows the airport area)suggest somewhere else.

You will first go through immigration and then pick up your baggage. After that you do customs [usually just a stroll through the "green lane"] Anyone meeting you should meet you just outside customs in the arrival area of the Lufthansa terminal. If this is a professional driver they will know what to do and will be holding a sign if not -- make sure the person knows which terminal. I'll post that info in a sec if someone else doesn't get there first :)

As Marilyn said it is well signed and there is no way you can go the wrong way through the process.

Here is the airport web page with terminal maps: http://www.frankfurt-airport.de/
