Frankfurt Airport

We will be transfering from SFO to Rome in Frankfurt. We have a long, long layover. Is it possible to buy entrance to an airport lounge? Or has anyone gone to the Marriott airport hotel?
Thanks, Aleeta

how long is long?

the train from the airport takes you to frankfurt or mainz .. might be nice to stroll around and have a light meal, weather permitting.

We stayed at the Marriott at the Frankfort airport in 2003. It was very, very nice but pricey.I don't know your length of layover or the time of your departure, or how tired you may be. We had taken the train from Nuremburg to Frankfort and stayed overnight for an early morning flight back to the US.

The Sheraton is inside the airport building complex. It has a restaurant and lounge and bar and offers quieter atmosphere than the airport restaurants. You may even rent a room there.

There are 20 airline lounges in the airport. The Independent Sky Club lounge and the Delta Airlines lounge are open for everybody if you pay a fee. See: http://www.loungeguide.net/wiki/u/Category:FRA

But think about lincasanova's advice. The train takes you in 12 minutes from the terminal to the city center!

as already mentioned there is only 1 hotel at the airport, the Sheraton. The Marriott is more as 10 miles away by car or cab.
I would also do the short trip by commuter train to Frankfurt downtown or Mainz.

We liked the Sheraton inside the airport as well. It was expensive but since we had a very early morning flight it was worth the cost. We had no need to leave the hotel as we had already had dinner with friends, had turned in the rental car, and just had to crash and be ready to get up really early the next morning. Excellent hotel.

tahoe,

There isn't a Mariott airport hotel. There is a Courtyard by Marriott that runs a shuttle to/from the airport but isn't very convenient.

The Marriott is in the westend of Frankfurt near the convention center. It can be reached by train from the airport and then by either the subway or tram. A hassle.

For convenience and a nice bed you should look into the Sheraton or the Steigenberger.

We have stayed at the Sheraton at the Frankfurt airport a few times.

We were meeting friends at the airport last June 2007 and had a 4 hour wait prior to their arrival and our long flight from California.

We rented a room...around $200...took a shower, cleaned up and a short nap.

I was not that pumped about the $200...but that shower and nap sure felt great!

You do not have to leave the airport grounds to get to the Sheraton. With your long layover it is the place to go.
