Frankfurt

Ok, I had no luck with my first post, so I thought I would try again.

Going to Frankfurt Nov. 1 and would like some ideas for things to do. I know Frankfurt has museums and such, but what are good daytrips by rail or off-the-beaten path things to do? We are nothing if not adventurous!

Also, we are always looking for: dive bars, mini-golf courses, and sporting events.

Help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Elizabeth

Maybe you aren't having any luck because your titles stink. It says use "a clear, identifying title" when you click on post a new message.

Would help if I could.

You might try Rick Steve's board.

"Graffiti Wall" "helpline"

There is a poster there, Jo by name, that lives in Frankfurt and is very willing to discuss its possibilities.

Good luck, Gary

You might enjoy a day trip or a couple of day in Heidelberg, which is not far by train. It is a walkable city, which is the site of the first University in Europe, has a quaint old town section, and ruins of a castle to explore. It is historic and rather interesting.

Frankfurt is in the middle of one of the most populous parts of Germany, with everything from Cologne to Stuttgart being in day-trip distance. You can be even in Strassbourg in about 2 hours by train.

But even just around Frankfurt there are many possibilities. It’s not so much the question whether there is something but which of all the possibilities you want to choose. Just take a look at

Thanks, vjpblovesitaly, that was very kind and helpful of you.

As for everyone else, sincerely, thank you. I will check out all the links. I have already checked out many of them, and was just hoping for some "inside information."

My friend and I love to go to local bars (not tourist-y places) so if you think of any, please let me know!
