Gosh, many people are travelling to Rome today!
Italy08, Campo dei Fiori is one of Rome's nicest areas (in fact, I mentioned it just in my last posting on this thread). Safety is a delicate question of course; if you are used to NYC standards, you'll find the Campo dei Fiori area a safe heaven, if you are used to Umbrian hill villages where nobody would ever lock the front door except perhaps while s/he is on a holiday, you'll find all of Rome terribly unsafe... for big city standards, anyway, Campo dei Fiori is a perfectly safe area. Your apartment is in fact between Campo dei Fiori and Largo Argentina - see above for the advantages of Largo Argentina! As far as agencies, I have none that I'd really prefer, but I have excellent, really excellent memories of http://www.undertheromansun.com/ - in fact, the agency I rented my favourite Roman apartment from that has since disappeared from the web. It was on via dei Genovesi where they still have a bunch of other apartments - all of them look really appealing to me.
joan, I doubt zizz will benefit much of your hotel review - s/he asked more than one year ago...
Suzie, as I said in my first posting on this thread, Testaccio is certainly one of Rome's most colourful and likeable neighbourhoods. Pretty? No, but very unspoiled, simple, and nice, and if you are not so eager to cross out many famous sights on your to-do-list, it will be just right for you. (Do go to the center, though, too... you wouldn't want to stay in Testaccio only, would you?)
PlanB, why not? The apartment is on the edge of three neighbourhoods, all very upscale: boring but elegant via Vittorio Veneto and the adjoining aristocratic residential areas; the Quirinale hill with the large palace of (once) the popes and (now) the Italian president, extremely calm except for the narrow strip below the hill around Trevi fountain; and the Spanish steps area, busy with tourists and expensive shopping. The only con is that just around your corner, the two streets where traffic is pure hell are crossing each other: via del Tritone and via delle Quattro Fontane. Let's hope that corner is sufficient to keep the noise away.
plafield, I realize only now that you've taken my southern Trastevere advice - I'm glad you've enjoyed it. Yes, that's really a great neighbourhood, and I know already now that I'll miss it on my next Rome visit (I'll be staying with friends in S. Lorenzo, north of Termini - nice apartment, and I don't have to pay, of course... but the neighbourhood...)

Thank you for answering so promptly and precisely for the Via Della Purinficazione apartment. Maybe the apartment is a little too quiet for us then. We like something fun to do around where we live.
Tonight my husband and I have finally narrowed down our apartment search for the final three for Rome. We cannot make up our minds since it is our first time in Rome. We need to pick one of them and book it because all three has positive reviews on it. We would like you to give us some pointers and we will like to hear what you say before we make any final decision. We are a family of four with two young adults.

Yes, the area around Via Della Purinficazione is quiet. But this is great because in a very few minutes, you can be somewhere lively and noisy if that's what you want. For sleeping, it's excellent, and it's quick to get all over Rome (by walking, metro, or bus).

PlanB, if you really want to be in the midst of the bustle, you'll like the via del Lavatore apartment best - this is where Rome vibrates at night, Fontana di Trevi being around the corner. All three apartments are in extraordinarily nice neighbourhoods, all preferable to the one you were originally considering; the Campo dei Fiori district is busy, too, but on mornings rather than at night (market area). If the third apartment were really near Piazza Navona, this would be the best choice for you (bustling at night like the Trevi surroundings, but less touristy, more Roman and more upscale), but it's in fact NOT at Piazza Navona - not that it is far, but far enough to be in a completely tranquil location near the Tiber. (I would choose this one, since I love that neighbourhood, and appreciate the bus connections long the Tiber, but I think you will want to choose via del Lavatore.)

Base on your first message, after taking your advice about avoiding accommodation around train stations, he also has an eye on the one near the station Vittorio Emanuele. PlanB, let me make one important thing clear: the metro, in Rome, is good for nothing (thinking of tourists). It's mostly running outside the historic center, and necessarily so - I used to mock at Rome's metro plan myself until I did finally understand that they can't simply dig through the center since they would be destroying too much: underground, every inch is filled with precious archeological remains!! Ok, so don't even think about the Galimberti apartment, you'd be losing half of your stay traveling to and from the center. As far as Buonarroti, this must be a misunderstanding - I recommended NOT to stay near the train station, and while that apartment seems to be very pretty, the district where it's located is truly ugly. Whether to take the Panico apartment or the one near via Giulia is a matter of personal taste - both areas are among Rome's prettiest, both are tranquil but in walking distance to the lively parts around Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori, and both are near the Tiber with the wonderful bus connections.
JeanneB (funny that we're having B-day today: PlanB and JeanneB), thank you for your extraordinarily nice compliment, I'm really not sure if this humble thread deserves it... the one you've found is certainly a perfect apartment, great location, great pictures, I've already bookmarked it for myself, thank you. (Bus connections are less perfect, but I'd put up with it for this marvellous aparment.) Just one thing is important: it's only fine if you DON'T have a car, since parking is absolutely impossible there.

Heavens no...no car. We're driving in from Tuscany and dropping the car at FCO just to avoid driving in the city!

We rented an apartment for our upcoming
trip to rome from www.italyperfect.com..it's the "La Giulia." The location seems nice..off of a small street two blocks from Piazza Farnese between Via Giulia and Via di Monserrato. Any comments??

You will love the location of the Piazza Rondanini! We stayed there this past March (a different apartment, ours thru sleepinitaly), and found the location superb! Literally a one-minute walk to the Pantheon, a good-sized grocery store, lots of restaurants, and definitely in the center of the action. We loved it.
PlanB, We had looked into renting the Panico but it was unavailable when we booked. However, we did walk by it several times during our stay in Rome, and it was in a great location as well!

Armando al Pantheon is one of ekscrunchy's favourite Roman restaurants (see her "Rome trip/food report" - you can also find it clicking on my screenname since I've been posting there, as well). I don't know that restaurant.
But I know Angoletto, which used to be one of my favourites years ago. The problem, for me, is that their menu did not vary much over time, so after having eaten there a few times, I was running out of dishes that attracted me; but I enjoyed their fish preparations very much - it's a fish restaurant (no Roman cuisine, thus - Rome doesn't do fish), and their very best dish used to be lukewarm salmon on rucola salad, really excellent.
