France Wedding with a 1 Year Old - Help Needed!
 

Hi all,

I am in need of some help with planning a trip to France for a wedding next July.

I am looking to fly into Toulouse and then travel up to Tourliac near Monpazier and Villereal. It is quite likely that we will stay in Monpazier for the wedding but am looking for some recommendations for places to stay on route to Monpazier from Toulouse. We will likely be in France for a week so may stay in Toulouse for a day or so and then Monpazier for 2 or 3 days so have 2 or 3 days spare.

We will have a 1 year old with us as well so would be looking to stay in nice towns with places that are easy to get around with a pram, ideally hotels that have air conditioning and maybe a pool and also plenty of places to eat out. Is Toulouse a nice city to stay for a day or so?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Having your own kid will be treated differently by immigration differently that having "a kid" so if the latter you may need to bone up on documents to bring.

July in that part of France is hot, be prepared for it, air con is all very well but...

Toulouse is a great city to stay in. Be prepared for cobbles though.

Monpazier is in the middle of nowhere, enjoy.

Bergerac might be ok, but a bit touristy. I'd look at Cahors

We spent several days at Monpazier, we loved it.
It is an old 'bastide' (squared town), beautiful.
Lots of english speaking or Brits there if I remember well.

Definitely select something with access to a swimming pool, the 1 year old will love it and it will keep you cool.

yes, I think Toulouse is a very nice city to stay in and no problem finding a hotel with AC. Rates are a lot cheaper there than in, say, Paris. It is a big city, however, so you must forget pools in city hotels (unless you are staying at the Ritz or something in Paris). Either stay in the country or stay in a city, you shouldn't need a pool in a city, if that's what you mean. Maybe you mean elsewhere. I'd stay there more than a day, as long as you are there. There is lots to see there.

I think I will go with Toulouse and monpazier then. Will be a nice contrast having a city and a small town.

Is there another place that you could recommend to stay in that area of France as well? Ideally somewhere between Toulouse and Monpazier.

We're looking for one more place to stay just so we get a few different 'tastes' of France.

Moving around so much in that short a time is a PITA, more so with a baby. You lose time checking out and in and transporting from 1 place to another. Not all babies travel well, some do, of course.

Keep it simple and do 2 places only.

I would keep it to two places also, but if you must have an intermediary stop, I'd choose Villeneve-sur-Lot.

Monpazier is exquisite, though it will be full of visitors in July. Toulouse is a wonderful city.
