France Wants French Cuisine to be Named UNESCO World Heritage Thing
In a highly publicized move the French government is actively appealing to UNESCO for that body to name its cuisine or cooking to the vaunted World Heritage status.
And surprisingly there has been some negative reactions in France - the notion that our cuisine is already the consensus world's best so why this B.S.?
And countries like China, Italy and Mexico may even dispute the French claim of being supreme in cuisine worldwide.
UNESCO World Heritage status at first was reserved mainly for cities, buildings, natural areas, etc. But cuisine?
That's a stretch IMO

Which French cuisine are you referring to? French Basque? Provençal? Alsace or Alsace-Lorraine? Maybe the regional cuisine of Franche-Comté? There is no single type or style of French cuisine. Everything is regional and the differences can be dramatic.
