France trip itinerary
My husband and i will be going to France 6-20/7-3. I studied in Paris and have been there numerous times (I'm a French teacher) but my husband has never been to France. I have a couple of questions:
1) Have you ever heard of the hotels; Au Pacific- Paris Auberge de la Truffe- Perigeux Parc Victoria- St. Jean de Luz Ostape- Bidarray Chateau de Riell- Carcassonne Le Mas d'Entremont- Aix area 2) Where is the best place to get driving maps? We are taking the TGV from Paris to Dordogne and we rent our car from there. 3) Do you know the distances between any of these places? Merci beacoup! |
The AA Route Planner is great for calculating distances in Europe. The URL is http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/pla...jsp?database=E
Have a good trip! |
The only one I know is the Auberge de la Truffe in the Dordogne - darling Logis de France inn with a great restaurant. It's not in Périgueux (note correct spelling, since you're a French teacher), though, but in Sorges. Anyway, you'll definitely be happy there.
I use www.mappy.com for driving directions and routes. The best thing to do with regard to maps, other than ones you'll want to use for planning, is to buy the appropriate Michelin ones at any book store or supermarket when you get there. The blue series (#329, for example, for the Dordogne)is for the really detailed ones. Are you taking the TGV to Libourne or Bordeaux and then driving? I ask because there is no TGV "to the Dordogne." |
Thank you for the help. Sorry abput the typo. I believe that we are going to Bordeaux.

We have stayed at Le Mas d'Entremont and thought it very pleasant. It was nice to stay just outside Aix, up on a hill, and still be able to reach that city or Marseille very quickly. The hotel has a number of different kinds of accommodations, from rooms in the mas to bungalows set in the grounds. The food in the dining room is excellent, and the pool is set amid lush vegetation.
