France Tourisme & Mont St Michel

Fodor's "France 2000" has a one-line comment that France Tourisme runs 3-day tours in Normandy (assume from Paris) which include Mont St Michel. However, there is no further info on this organization & my web searches come up with nothing.

Does anyone have any information on France Tourisme or any other group that gives more than the 1 day trip to Mont St Michel?
Thanks.
Hi Marion!

I did a one day trip to Mont St-Michel from St-Malo. It was a round-trip bus ride with commentary in French, with stops in Cancale and Mont St-Michel. St-Malo is terrific! Mont St-Michel is a marvel, though a major disappointment because of ALL of the tourists. That's what ruined it for me. There are postcard stands and fast-food restaurants everywhere once you enter the gates.BEAUTIFUL, though disappointing at the same time.

Ross--what was the name of the bus tour company please?

Hi Carol!

Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of the bus company. When in St-Malo, go to the tourism office located right next to the marina in front of the city walls. You can get all of the information that you'll need right there. St-Malo's GREAT!!!!!!!!

I don't know what that line meant in Fodors, but I believe Cityrama (www.cityrama.com) has 2-4 day tours of that area which include Mont St-Michel + various options (chateaux or WWII sites, etc). They seem a bit pricey to me but may be worth it to you for the convenience; as far as money goes, some people don't realize that the RT train/bus fare alone to that area is worth about $125, I think, so they aren't quite as bad as they appear at first. (It's not obvious, go to their section on tours in "France Provinces"). I found a couple mentions of France Tourisme, conflicting info unfortunately. I think that is simply a reference to the official France Tourism organization. They are listed in the France Telecome phone book as beiung at 1, rue Seguier, Paris 75006 phone 53-10-35-35, FAX 53-10-35-36.
Additionally, they are cited in Paris Pages WEBsite as being on 9, rue du Mont-Thabor 75001, with phone/FAX numbers, so who knows. YOu can see that reference by going to www.paris.org then select Tourist Info, then Tourist Companies, then Travel Agencies. I saw a reference on another webpage that cited the rue due Mont-Thabor address as being the dept. of the France Tourism org. for business travel professionals; it may be a main office, not for tourist info but if you don't mind shooting off a couple FAXes, they might respond.
