Very nice suggestions from wildiowa.
I would also suggest spending a morning or afternoon in the lovely town of Vevey, with its tangle of streets in the old town right next to the lake. Before or after, you can walk through the vineyards of the Lavaux. There is a local train that runs once an hour in both directions along the lake, so you can start your walk anywhere and finish anywhere else -- Rivaz to Cully or Lutry, for instance. The local bus runs every 10 minutes, and it links Villeneuve (other side of Chillon) to Montreux and then Vevey. There are bus stops on just about every other corner. Your hosts will give you a Riviera Card, making all bus & rail transport along the lake between Vevey & Villeneuve free. So a car is really an albatross. Have fun as you plan! s |
