Well the time is getting close (3 months to go) Most arrangements, car, hotel etc have been made.
Now is the time for fine tuning. So if I could have any and all input please for our 5 days based in St. Remy.

Day one (tuesday) we will collect the car at TVG station Avignon around 8 a.m.
Plan is to drive to St. Remy, check in and drop bags, then proceed to Arles, and Les Baux on the way back to St. Remy for the night.

Day two (wed) we will hit the market in St. Remy in the morning before driving to Port du Gard for the afternoon. OR walk to and visit Glanum.

Day three (thursday) drive the Northeast Loop: Orange, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, La Romaine de Vaison, back to St. Remy for the night.

Day four (friday) Early start for a full day - the Vaucluse and Luberon hill town region. Return to St. Remy for the night.

Day five (sat) Morning drive to l'Isle sur la Sorgue (market day?) then lunch and then back track to Uzes for the night.

Any added info/days switching, route info that you think would add to or help please pass it on.
Thanks to all your fordorites for you continued assistance.

Uzes has an amazing Saturday market. You have to get there b4 they set up though. Can you get there the night before? It's worth the visit. Just a thought.

>>Day five (sat) Morning drive to l'Isle sur la Sorgue (market day?)<<

Nope - the stuff you'll want to see is Sunday morning - not Sat

>>then lunch and then back track to Uzes for the night.<<

Nope - the stuff you'll want to see in Uzes is on Sat morning & afternoon - not Sunday.

Hey - head to Uzes Sat morning, do the market, visit the Pont and stay in Uzes (2 nights). On Sunday head to l'Isle sur la Sorgue (very light traffic on Sunday) and do the market then.

I did not check the past nnn posts on this thread to see if it fits into your overall schedule.

Please advise what maps we will need for visiting Provence (no Marseille, Cassis etc), then through the Tarn Gorges to and through the Dordogne.
I don't really want to get 113, 114, 115, 329 337 etc etc.
Thanks for all advice.

>>I don't really want to get 113, 114, 115, 329 337 etc etc.<<

Then get a big map of France - but most of the interesting/smaller roads won't be on the map. No way you'll find your way around either Provence or the Dordogne using a all-France map or even a southern-France map (if there is one). You will also throw the France map away the first day you'r in France, and purchase the 115 & 300 series maps. But you won't have time to mark-up the routes with magic marker. There are 500 series maps, but even they are on a scale that's hard to read, IMO. Not to sure you'll end up with any fewer maps also - perhaps 1 fewer map.

Get:
115 for Provence. If you don't use this map, then you will need 332, but anything south of Arles & Salon are not on the map. Also, Aix is not on this 332 map

339 for Uzes & the Gorges du Tarn,

338 to get you from the Gorges du Tarn to close to the Dordogne at Cahors

329 for the Dordogne.

Carcassonne is not on any of these maps.

Oops - you need 113 for Provence, not 115.

We invested in the Michelin France Tourist & Motoring Atlas. It is heavy to pack but once there, we just left it in the car. The scale is such that small roads are indicated. It also includes 75 town plans.

Looks like you have a wonderful trip ahead!

In looking at your days in Provence, I had a few comments:
I think it makes sense to combine Pont du Gard with Uzes, not go in that direction two different days.

Your first day sounds tiring to me -- Arles plus Les Baux after settling in in St Remy is a lot. You could do Glanum that first day.

We rented a farmhouse in Noves, a small town north of St Remy and used Map 115. I agree you will need either multiple maps or a good atlas.

Vttraveler. I think you made the same mistake I did on the 100 series maps. 113 is for Provence, and 115 is Alps-Maritimes - around Nice.

Thanks to all who posted.
Stu I'll get the 113, 339, 338 and 329 - if I can't find them here I'll have to pick up in Avignon. Originally looking at your 3 itineraries for those 3 areas it referrenced about 10 different maps. So scaling it down is very helpful. I'll also try to have a look at the motoring atlas but may be too heavy and encompass more than we require? FYI we're not planning on visiting Aix, Cassis or Carcassonne so the maps above should be sufficient.
Vttraveler thanks, yes we have changed our route to go to Uzes from St. Remy early in the a.m. (Sat), check in to hotel and then enjoy the market, pick up picnic items and then head to Pont du Gard for the afternoon.
Heading for St Chely the following a.m. (sunday)
Thanks again,
Zunrise
