France in December

We will be travelling to France in December to visit family. Staying for around 4 - 5 weeks with a base in Paris. We have visited France once before so we are not put off by the weather In December. Is the region of Provence worthwhile visiting at this time. Also I have read a lot about Annecy, in the French Alps. Is it advisable to visit the French Alps at this time of year. We will also be looking at neighbouring countries for inspiration.

You might want to ask to have this post tagged for France as well if you want people on the France section to see it.

Hi !

I definitly recommend visiting the alps, especially in december, there will be snow and it'll be very pretty. Probably very cold though. Depending on your budget, choose you area wisely, also depending on whether you ski or not.

Annecy is a beautiful (expensive) city. I've been there several times but during summer or spring. It might be a little depressing in december.
Honnestly I wouldn't go to Provence in this season, it will be gloomy and you might be disappointed.
