Hotel or B&B for Salzburg
Hello,
we are family of three including a 4 year old who will be staying 2 nights in Salzburg. While the option of staying close to town is very desirable, we will be driving from Vienna and will have a car. The cost of a place inside Salzburg seems pretty high and I have to add parking to the cost too.
I am veering towards a nice B&B outside Salzburg (which is scenic) - drive into town and park the car in a parking lot and spend the day. Any recommendations for such a place? Also, we will not be in Salzburg for the second day but driving around the countryside. A B&B outside Salzburg may be easier for that purpose as well...

Hi,
We love these two we've stayed at, The Pension Mayringerlehen in Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden and the Guesthouse Friedwiese in Schonau am Konigsee. They're right near Berchtesgaden and about a 20 to 30 min. drive from Salzburg's old town

Stayed here last time we were in Salzburg. Would again. Park your car in the grounds of the B&B and catch the bus into Salzburg centre. Too easy. Great accom. www.haus-ballwein.at. Bus stop outside and 10 min ride.
Salzburg and surrounds are beautiful.

I too was going to suggest finding somewhere that has a good bus connection with Salzburg.
alternatively go onto TA or one of the booking sites like booking.com and put in your dates and other requirements - you can select how far out you want to be, parking, a triple room, etc etc. it lists B&Bs & pensions as well as hotels and the reviews are thought to be pretty accurate.
enjoy your trip!

Hi K,
http://www.ammoos.at/main.php?language=en&m=home%29 is a B&B at the edge of town, one min walk from a bus stop. You can leave your car and take an 11 min bus ride into town.
Get the Salzburg card.

You might change your mind when you get there. There is plenty to keep you all busy for 2 days.
Enjoy your visit.

We have stayed here a number of times - most recently three weeks ago.
They have parking and there is a convenient bus into the city.

We did not have a car - but have managed a number of day excursions using public transport and last time used a local taxi company for a scenic drive to Königsee, and some helpful advice on how to spend the day.
