France for two weeks with a first timer to Europe

Hi All,
I'm taking my first timer to Europe boyfriend to France in September for two weeks. To be honest Ive backpacked with friends in Spain, Portugal and Italy with friends, but this is my first attempt to plan a whole trip with a newbie! I'm thinking about flying into Paris for 4 days and then taking a train to Cassis. Id like to get an apartment for 10 days in but I'm wondering if that's too much time or if day trips to Nice or Marseilles are possible. Any recommendations for a nice clean hostel or apartment in Paris for 4 days would also be welcomed. In fact any advice whatssoever would be appreciated on accommodations, trains, buses and sites.

Congratulations! Taking a trip together, especially if you or he doesn't speak French, can be a genuine test of whether a relationship will progress. It makes far more sense than taking a honeymoon after the commitment is made.
Full disclosure: I live alone. But I can guess that you should be asking him to help with the research and join in the decisions.

Any particular reason for Cassis? I'd spend a week in Paris with a couple of day trips and a week in an apartment after you are used to the country. Cassis or another place of your choice.

I agree with mamcalice, you should spend more time in Paris, like a week and then head south for more relaxing moments!
I suggest you stay on the Left Bank like in the 5th arrondissement, you can check out accomodation on a website that I particularly like : http://www.petitfute.uk.com/accommod...7300-1166.html, which also provides information on restaurants and sightseeing and some comments and reviews !

Hey Mc

You are taking a newbie to Paris and you will spend only 4 days so that you can go to Cassis?

Chacun a son gout.
