Well, I'm almost afraid to post this (please ira, don't bite!!!) I reserved our Paris hotel last night using AA miles, Trintie Plaza. Then, I went to check the flights. Since we are flying non-rev (standby), seniority rules. A Delta employee listed themself and 5 family members, since he was hired before my husband, he bumped us off the flight to Paris. All other flights surrounding the date to Paris are full. :(
So now we are to plan B. Plan B has plenty of room on the flight- we can fly into Amsterdam and out of Munich- we will be there 13-14 days.
I'm so bummed bc I felt like I had the best France trip planned. I bought Rick Steves book- great! So thanks all for your help- I have saved these posts and WILL be using them for a future trip to France.
So while flying for free *is* wonderful, it cannot always be counted on. Lesson learned...
Lauren :)

Is this a vacation or an episode of the Amazing Race? I get dizzy just thinking about it. It's good you upped your budget though...'cause that $2,000 budget was sounding very 80s. Smiles. Happy Travels!

Hi TX,

>we can fly into Amsterdam and out of Munich- we will be there 13-14 days<

Change your hotel res in Paris.

Stay in Amsterdam 3 days.

Can you fly free?

If not

Train from from AMS to CDG is 94E pp, 84E pp if you go via Lille.

Train to Nice is 85E pp.

Fly from Nice to Munich.
See www.whichbudget.com

Enjoy plan B.

That's a great idea, ira! Start in Amsterdam, train to Paris (and maybe Nice) back to Munich to fly back home.

What a great trip!

TxgalinGA, even if you just did Paris, you could have 3 days in Amsterdam, 5 in Paris and 5 in Germany.

I've not planned a trip to Germany (yet) but what's the romantic road through the German wine country - Mosel valley? TXgal was interested in French vineyards. I understand that area of Germany is gorgeous!
