France Castle Pass

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a pass or organisation you can join, which would allow you free entry to chateaux / castles in France. Similar maybe to the National Trust of England.

My parents are very interested in this & retiring to the Loire Valley soon.

Thanks Mark

I'm not aware of such a thing in the Dordogne. Most chateaux are privately owned, although they get government subsidies for opening to the public - so not quite like the National Trust. I think you can sometimes get regional tickets which will allow you into several chateaux.

When we were in the Loire last summer, we paid at each and every chateaux. It got quite pricey and we had to pick and choose. You can sometimes find coupons for reductions in leaflets but other than that I saw no offer for multi-tickets in the area.
