France: Auvers-sur-Oise

My French pronunciation is weak. How do you say "Auvers-sur-Oise"? Phonetically, please.

Have you been there? Is it worth making a day trip from Paris? Many thanks.

Oh-vair sur (for the "u" sound, say eee and purse your lips) wahs. That's as close as I can get.

It's well worth a day trip, and don't miss the exhibition in the château - wonderful!

We went here as part of a day trip from Paris which included Giverny. Wouldn't think it could use up a whole day but we missed the exhibition in the chateau.

By the way, that "wahs" is more like "wahz." You do pronounce the s, like a z.

I really enjoyed Auvers-sur-Oise as a day trip, and that's all I did that day. It was a relaxing day, sure, as when I am spending time there, I don't always get up at the crack of dawn, but I was there bout 10 am to 4-5 pm.

The chateau is one of the best parts, I thought, a very nice multi-media exhibit on Impressionism.

I think you obviously have to be interested in Van Gogh to decide it is worth it, though. If you aren't, then I wouldn't go.
