France and/or Switzerland December 2013
Hello,
We will be in Europe for our first time this Christmas, and we have a total of 15 days including travel days, flying into Paris. We know we will be in Paris about a week and then Strasbourg for Christmas Eve and Day, but we don't know about the remainder. Should we continue across the border and into Zurich so we can explore Switzerland (Lucerne, Interlaken, Geneva, etc?) , or should we explore the rest of France (Lyon, Dijon, Provence, Rivera, etc?)? Thanks in advance for your help!

It depends:
Switz will be much more expensive - esp if you are skiing at popular resorts. I would not do Zurich, which is really a business city, but would head more for Lucern, Interlaken and the mountains.
Separately, not sure there will be anything open in Strasbourg when you are there - have you checked out what is open then - besides the Cathedral? And you will need to make arrangements for meals in advance, since many places will be closed.
I would look at the specific sights you want to see and use that to make a decision.

Our main focus isn't skiing. If we can great, if not that's okay too. We just want to see the country not necessarily any skiing, we can do that at home.
As for Strasbourg, I should have said arriving (early from Paris) on the 23rd and leaving on the 25th. There should be a few things open to see (the markets, some christmas shopping, cathedral, etc). Also, I know where our meals will be but most restaurants don't take reservations this far in advance.

Choose the PLACES you want to see. It's no so important, whether a place is in France, in Italy or in Switzerland.
