France 25th Anniversary for 60-Somethings/Dordogne Guide for Hire?

We are planning about 4+ days in Paris for our anniversary mid-Sept (we have an apt. already in "heart of the Right Bank") then would like a walking-type tour, in the Dordogne or Provonce region. I don't want to walk more than about 6 miles a day, (I'm assuming it will be warm and we're not 30 anymore). I would really love to find a tour guide, history-buff we could hire for a week or so that has a car. Do any Fodorites know of an individual tour guide for hire for just a couple? If we can't find an private guide, we'd be interested in either self-guided, or small group ( if we're not tired at the hip, for all meals) experience.Any B & B or small hotel suggestions (in the 3 star range) for the Dordogne or Provonce leg would also be highly appreciated.
