>When will the US change to liters and meters...<

If God had meant for us to use meters he wouldn't have given Adam feet.

How much fuel at 140mph?
16 mpg always make me look for the next gas station.
But at least it's not 10.

According to Wikipedia gas prices the price of gas in France on April 7, 2011 was $8.91 US per gallon.

since the price of oil has skyrocketed since then I would assume that the $10/gal mark was perhaps breeched.

As I said - on a website which lists all recommended European petrol prices it was €1.64 on the day you posted, as it still is today. I can't be bothered to do the maths, I'll let you do that.

http://www.brandstofprijzen.info/bra...zen-europa.php in Dutch but pretty understandable.

Oil has dropped in price over the last couple of days, by at least 10%. Petrol and diesel are expected to fall in price from next week.

I'll believe it when I see it.

$4.29/gal US here and all-time high. so it seems price of petrol in europe is not much higher and with all the taxes I guess is lower.

The figure of 1.585 euros for a liter corresponds to what I pay in my town just outside Paris for 95 petrol. There are roughly 3.8 liters in a gallon so doing the math you get $6.02 per gallon.

6 euros a gallon would be about $9/gal or a tad more if using credit cards that charge a 3% fee for foreign transactions.

Todays price for Super 95 in

Samnaun/Switzerland in USD $6.09
Livigno/Italy in USD $5.92

Todays price for Diesel in
Samnaun/Switzerland in USD $6.09
Livigno/Italy in USD $5.36

If you're in the area this should be the best legal option to buy anywhere in central Europe.

As reference, the average price of heating oil (red diesel) in Germany (in summer virtually the same as Diesel) incl. tax for purchases of at least 265 gal is

USD $4.27 per gallon.

Illegal to use in a car, but does the farmer really care?

New gasoline price records in Le Monde tonight:

Le super sans plomb 95 a ainsi franchi son précédent record, qui datait de la semaine précédente, à 1,5469 euro le litre toutes taxes comprises (TTC). Même observation pour le super sans plomb 98, qui s'est vendu la semaine passée au prix moyen de 1,5861 euro/litre, contre 1,5849 euro/litre lors de la semaine achevée le 29 avril.

I bought 85 liters (22.5 gal) of Diesel from Conoco at 1.34€/l = $7.27 /gal, 30 minutes ago. Should last until the week end at least.

Cheapest available Super 95 costs 1.609 per liter at Conoco/Jet. Diesel is the way to go! The difference in price has not been this big for many years. The better the weather, the cheaper Diesel gets.

Super 100 costs the same as Super 95 everywhere, so I guess it's all the same stuff from the same tank.
