Iseo--hotel and restaurants
One reason we went back to Iseo was the I Due Roccoli. A 4 star hotel at reasonable 3 star prices. Set in the woods overlooking Lago Iseo, it is a perfect getaway place, or a great home for visiting the lake and surroundings areas like Franciacorta, Bergamo and Brescia. It is a winding 6 kilometer ride up a mountain and worth the drive. The staff, especially Francesca, Ico and Daniela were very helpful with sightseeing ideas, restaurants, etc. A nice breakfast at a reasonable extra price. Our large lakeview room is worth the extra since the cost is so reasonable. Only minor drawback was slow Wifi due to distance from room to front desk. Stay here and enjoy the lake.

Restaurants--
Also enjoy the very nice restaurant at I Due Roccoli.A little on the high side, but again worth the price. Fireplace in cool weather. Views of the woods. Well trained excellent service. Oh yeah and the food. From starters to primi to secondi, all is good, in addition to great beef selections, we had rack of lamb in pistachio crust and braised beef, they have great fish fish from the lake.
Ginepro--another restaurant with a great view about 5 kilometers up the same road as the hotel. Overlooks the lake and the town. There on Sunday special pizza night and it looked great. We had a great pasta and entree. The pasta was mafalde past verde with pumpkin sage cream sauce. (Typing this two weeks into the trip and it the best pasta so far). Also a pork rib that came out like short rib barbecued ribs. Great.
Culsane sul Lago is a small town nearby. We ate at Al Porto. 6 th generation restaurant on the water. Mattia the owner took great care of us as we loaded up in fish dishes as described above.

All in all Iseo this year has been a keeper.

A little behind but Mantova and Bologna coming up. Both new places for us and exceeded our expectations. Liked every part of each place (except maybe the riot in Bologna). Stay tuned.
Pics on food and places Facebook and reviews on Tripadvisor as outlined above. Thanks for the new followers on FB.
