Four star hotels in Paris?
 

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I will be in Paris for our 10th anniversary in May,

we are looking for a decent 4 star hotel, max is 250 per night. We are flexible on location, we will be all over the city. I would love some recommendations.

250 what.......Pounds, yen, euros, dollars?

You aren't going to Kansas, Toto.

The Plaza Athenee will cost about $1200/nite.
The Meurice is about $1100/nite.
The Ritz is about $1000/nite.

Breakfast is not included.

You should check venere.com or booking.com for 4 star hotels in your price range. I took a quick look and saw some.

I believe the Ritz, le Meurice, and the Plaza Athénée are all now under the new 5 star designation.

There are a lot of excellent hotels near the 200€ mark, if indeed we mean $250. Here are just a few suggestions:

The above examples are well located, very comfortable, and within your budget window. I believe they are also all 3 star hotels, 4 star hotels may generally be above your budget window.

When you are travelling will be important to both cost and availability - prices are lower in August but higher in September. However, these hotels are probably largely already booked for this September.

What used to be 4*L is now 5*.

Rather than star ratings, I suggest that you search "Paris Hotel" at this forum.

You will find some very nice 3&4* hotels for about 250-300E/nite.

Also, take a look at www.booking.com for hotel listings and reviews.

And do look up information as to how the star ratings are assigned in France. It's a completely different system from the one in the USA.

The US doesn;t have a hotel rating system - or rather there are many differnt systems involving various guidebooks and travel sights. the government doens;t get involved in it.

That said US star ratings are often more plesant than those of similar ratings in euope.

Agree you may have trouble getting a $ for your budget - but you can search for what you want. I think what is key is understanding what services you want (and room size, etc) to be sure you are getting them - no matter the number of stars. We generally end up paying more than that in Patis - like $300 to $350 - for what I would consider a 4*.

Star ratings for French hotels are determined by their point accumulation reference a long list of very tangible features and services. Charm, overall suitability, location, are not necessarily part of the evaluation and most travellers really will not care how many languages are officially spoken at the check in desk. Budget windows are a far better way to find suitable accommodations.

The hotels Ira named are the most expensive palace hotels in Paris, there are dozens of other 4* hotels at more moderate rates, I don't know what the point of that was. Even when they didn't have 5*, those were not avg 4* hotels. There is even a special category now above 5* which I think all those are in (5* Palace hotels).

HOwever, your budget is a bit low for 4* hotels in peak season if that is euro. If it is dollars, I'd say forget it. I stayed at one for less than that which I rather liked in the Marais, got it on booking.com I suggest you try there.

Dollars( US, Canadian, or American) GBPs, or Euros? Geesh how are we supposed to know, this forum doesn't even have an identifer on a persons avatar( like on tripadvisor the poster country is at least listed!)

Skip the four star fantasy ,, get a nice three star, they are often as nice or nicer depending on what you value.
