Four nights in Rome- too short a stay?
Hi everyone
Go today.com has a good deal on a trip to Rome: 5 days, 4 nights, air and hotel (at the Del Senato, which I know many people on this board really like)included for around $850/pp plus tax, etc. Travel through March 10. I checked different airlines, and tickets alone are at least $600, so the price sounds great to me. Is this amount of time too little, when you factor in travel time? I will be leaving from the east coast. Would it make more sense to wait for a deal with a longer stay? Thanks in advance for any advice. |
Travelchick I think it's a very good deal. I am one of the Albergo del Senato fans . I don't think 4 nights is too short a stay, you can see many things, just plan your stay. The last time I was in Rome I went with my son and daughter and we were there 4 nights. It was their first time and we saw most of Rome. And the hotel alone is a bit expensive, though worth the money, it's really great.I would profit from this deal.

Hi travelchick,
Did you check with gotoday to see if you could extend the trip a couple of days for an additional price? I've done that with Alitalia on one of their packages. If not, it sounds like a deal to me - go for it. adrienne |
It just depends on the hotels. For 2 people you'll be spending $1700 with the go today deal. If you can get air on your own for $1200, that would leave $500 for 4 nights hotel, or $125 a night.
If you were willing to sleep in a hostel or less expensive pension, you could do it more cheaply on your own. You just have to judge whether or not the hotel that is include in the $1700 price is worth the extra money. I would opt for a day or two longer, but as it is you'd probably have about 4 full days which isn't bad. |
No, there is always time to travel, even if for just one day. I would recommend that you do research before you go and make an outline of the things you would like to do. I have done this when traveling on a limited time schedule and found it very helpful.
Have a great time. Rome is a beautiful city. |
I would agree with Rufus that, if you have 2 people, you can probably do it for less with some research. I was considering a Go Today trip in March for 3 people but I realized it wasn't that great a deal when I remembered that over the past few years, winter airfares to Europe have dropped significantly after the holidays plus Bestfares.com has NYC to Rome right now for $389. Then, as I worked my way through the reservation, I noticed that, for the Go Today trip I wanted (6 nights, 7 days in Rome), they were tacking on $100 per person for some kind of fees.
It is definitely worth it, even for 5 days, 4 nights!!! |
