Thanks for all the suggestions. My son loves museums so we will definitely have to go to them. Sounds like we need a day out of town for an adventure.

My vote would be for the Villa Euphrissi de Rothchild, (think I've spelt it wrong) just FAB, and then wandered around the Cap. Bus to Eze also a nice trip, heaps to see and do.

For something different from museums and such there are some wondrous walks along the coast such as the one from Cap d'Ail train station (freqeunt trains from Nice and other coastal towns) to Monaco/Monte Carlo - paved walking path along pristine undeveloped coastline with signature beauty of Riviera coast rare seen these days. Take train back from Monaco after looking around this rather unexciting but novel town - casino is worth a look for sure.

Scenes from that walk - just about 2 miles or so and flat.

Just a quick correction - Villa Ephrussi is in Cap Ferrat, not Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Walking from Cap Ferrat to Beaulieu-sir-Mer is very nice!

Robicund, you're probably right. I was wrong in stating we went to Portofino by bus from Nice. We actually did that day-trip from Santa Margherita Ligure-- where it's a 45 minute ride.

Sorry for the confusion!

Knoxville, thanks you’re right. A beautiful walk between the two!
