Are you staying in the same terminal or changing from one to another (which takes time)? Despite France's reputation for gastonomy, the selection of eating options at CDG is as mediocre as airports in most cities. I have spent many unhappy hours at Terminal 2E in particular which IIRC only had self-service / takeaway options airside - burgers, sandwiches that sort of thing. You won't have any trouble getting something to eat during your layover, but you might be disappointed with the choice/standard.

Ah, I was replying to your 1st post when you added your 2nd posting. The answer to that is no, you don't have nearly enought time to go into central Paris and back. Not even close.

A 4 hour layover is definitely not enough time. It is 40 minutes to an hour from CDG to central Paris, plus when you return from lunch, you should be prepared for long lines to get through security. Stay and eat in the airport.

Probably not getting to central Paris. Maybe somewhere outside the airport but not far and I'm not sure you want to deal with re-checking in and customs and all that.

When we were in Schipol airport, we had ~5-6 hours and did the 4 hour tour of Amsterdam. It was wonderful and a good use of layover time. It was all arranged through the airport - we were a little nervous about getting back in time for our flight but it ended up fine. I'm not sure if CDG has something similar - either a tour or maybe car for hire to get you out for a couple hours. But probably not central Paris.

Food in CDG is really bad & expensive. I was in 2E in May and the above mentioned self service cafeteria had 5 euro cold pizza slices & overpriced yogurt. I think also there is a gourmet sandwich place with very overpriced food (10-12). However you'll have time to eat in one of the airport hotels but their dining choices are not that great either (but definitely beat airport food). T3 is even worse.

One of the Brasseries has a not terrible branch in (perhaps) Terminal F is you want a choucroute or something like that.
