marcy,
I enjoyed your trip report very much. Great details. I also must try the hotel next trip.
I spent a day just wandering the St. Germain area on my last two trips. I really want to stay there next time.
Thank you.

There is a pending broadway show on the life of Camille Claudel of the same name written by Frank Wildhorn. It played at the Goodspeed Opera house in CT last year, starring Frank's wife...Linda Eder. Sadly, tickets were impossible to get) For those of you who know her voice/work, the song "Gold" is from the play. If you have not heard it and know the story of Camille, take a listen...you may have to hold back a tear.....

A couple of miscellaneous observations:
My SIL had seen the product "Airborne" touted on Oprah, and bought 2 packages to bring on this trip.
Apparently this is a citrus flavored vitamin/ mineral preparation that you drop into a glass of water like Alka Seltzer and it's supposed to protect you from catching viruses that circulate in the airline cabins.
Well, SIL took this religiously- beginning before takeoff, and continuing throughout the trip, and guess who was the only one of the four of us to catch a bad cold?
I would chalk it up as one of those things that probably doesn't hurt, but doesn't necessarily help, either.
One tip from this board that I thought was a great idea was to take pictures of wine bottle labels if you want to remember what wines you had.
We did that this trip (unfortunately with BIL's camera, so I don't have the pictures yet), but I think it will be great to have -- and maybe we can even find some of those wines here.

Marcy-
Thanks for the trip report. I too was thinking of going when American and United had fares for $358 r.t from chicago. I couldn't get anyone to go with me and the hotels in the 1st were way too high compared to last Nov. I am going to keep this hotel handy for next time.

Oh yes, Scarlett!
You've got to find a way to get back!
Keep working on the Yankee!
This was actually the first time that I've had a chance to shop much in Paris- usually my DH zooms past the stores so fast I barely get a chance to peek inside!
Now a girls' trip--- that's going to be a whole different story!!

I have the same problem with my dear heart. If I can sit him in a chair at a café and people watch, as we did in Annecy, while I browse, it's ok , but to walk along is not for him and I'd be rushed.I think all L.L. Bean; guys are like that. Maybe I should have married an armani fan...lol...

Mimi, NO! Seriously. My DH loved Italian clothes so much that I was the one "standing around" while he shopped. LOL
Even in SF he had a tailor in North Beach that was from MassaLubrenze. Could not go to SF without having to go to his tailors.
I finally decided when I needed to shop in SF for ME, the best way was to go by myself.

Thanks. Glad you persisted in spite of your posting problems. Fun report. You're a woman after my own heart--first things first--the hotel and then the food. We've eaten at Fish as well and enjoyed it very much. Glad you had such a nice trip.

marcy,
Great report! I love reading about the restaurant experiences.
We also booked the $380 fare from ORD-CDG. The farthest out, that I could book reservations was early March.
I've made a vow that whenever we don't have a new trip in the works, I am going to take advantage of whatever air fare sale comes along.
Hey, we're still waiting for the pictures Marcy!

Here are some pictures from our trip, including several of the Bonaparte, for those of you who were interested.
My brother-in-law is supposed to be sending me the ones he took, which include some pictures of our dinners and wine bottle labels. (taking pictures of the wine bottle labels was a tip I got here, which I thought was a great idea-- I can never remember the wines.)
But for now, here's what I have:
